President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a special message to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state on the occasion of his 45th birthday.

Buhari described the Kogi state governor as an epitome of loyalty and solid commitment to the growth of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from its infancy.'

The president’s congratulatory message was contained in a statement issued on Thursday, June 18, by the presidential spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu.

“I am proud of you and your active loyalty and services to our party at all times and you are a remarkable party man who deserves to be celebrated," he said.

According to Buhari, the governor serving the people of Kogi at the prime of his life gives him a unique advantage to operate at maximum mental and physical capacity.

The Kogi state government has formally commenced community policing in the state. This follows the inauguration of the State Community Policing Advisory Committee (SCPC) and the State Community Policing Committee (SCPC) simultaneously on Monday, June 15.

The committees were inaugurated by the governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello who was represented by his deputy, Chief Edward Onoja.

The governor applauded the courage and foresight of President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure the country implements the policy under his government after many years of the issue dominating public discussions.

In other news, the Kogi state governor on Friday, June 5, lifted the total lockdown imposed on Kabba-Bunu local government area following suspected cases of coronavirus.

Bello had taken heed to the warnings of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) with his decision to impose a total lockdown in the area.

The governor made the announcement at the Government House in Lokoja, the state capital. Bello speaking on the state government's decision to lift the lockdown explained that it had become necessary after the result of all the samples taken came out negative.
