Victor Giadom's bid to become the acting national chairman of the All Progressives Congress(APC) has met with a roadblock as the National Working Committee of the party declared the seat of the deputy national secretary of the party vacant.

The Nation reports that the NWC took the decision because Giadom has ceased to be an officer of the party since 2018.

The party said Giadom had resigned in 2018 to serve as the deputy governorship candidate of the APC in Rivers state and he returned to office at the National Secretariat without a fresh nomination by South-South Zone of the party.

However the South-South Zone of APC has nor re-present Giadom or nominate a new candidate for the office.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Adams Oshiomhole has broken silence on the defection of his successor Governor Godwin Obaseki from the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Legit.ng recalls that the embattled governor took a bow out of the ruling party like a feisty warrior on Tuesday, June 16, after collapsed attempts to make the warring parties in Edo APC bury their grievances.

Describing the ruling party as "a predatory group of godfathers," Obaseki vowed not to allow the interest of some "political thugs" to submerge his re-election bid.

The governor may announce his new political home, with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) likely to be his destination alongside his deputy, Philip Shaibu, who also took the path of his master.

Reacting to Obaseki's resignation, Oshiomhole described the development as “good riddance to bad rubbish."

The APC chairman also vowed that the ruling party will go to court due to the discrepancies in Obaseki's certificate should PDP field in the governor as its flagbearer in the forthcoming election.

“Fortunate enough, it was the PDP that exposed him in 2016. PDP filed a case at the Federal High Court amplifying every forgery segments in his certificate. APC just managed to escape that because PDP filed out of time and the case was struck out.

“Now, the case has life, so, when they field him, we will be at the court to adopt what PDP filed before the court against him with additional evidence we now have against him. So, we can’t wait to have PDP field him as their candidate," Oshiomhole said.

The former governor has been at warpath with his successor over what many analysts term as fall of interest.
