More trouble looms for Nigeria's ruling party as some security operatives on Wednesday, June 17, took over the national secretariat of the APC in Abuja, The Sun reports.
It was gathered that the agents took over the building in anticipation of a possible breakdown of law and order over the court ruling that upheld the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole as the party's national chairman.
The security agents who are strategically located inside and outside the secretariat arrived at the party headquarters in two Hilux Patrol vehicles. They also stopped journalists who cover the ruling party from gaining access to the premises.
This development is coming after Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, the president of the Court of Appeal in Abuja upheld the suspension of Oshiomhole as the national chairman of the APC stating that the former governor’s appeal lacked merit.

Giadom explained that he has taken over based on a previous court order empowering him to do so.
Following Oshiomhole's suspension, the party on Tuesday, June 16, elevated Abiola Ajimobi to serve as its acting national chairman.
Ajimobi is the party’s deputy national chairman for the southern region and is a former governor of Oyo state.
In a statement signed by party spokesman, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, on Tuesday, the ruling party said its NWC had been guided by the party’s legal department in line with the provisions of its constitution.
In a related development, Senator Ajimobi has stated that he will convene a National Executive Council meeting of the APC soon.
The former governor of Oyo state was reacting to his emergence as the APC acting national chairman. Ajimobi, however, called on all APC stakeholders to continue to observe the peace as he assumes the position as acting national chairman of the ruling party.
