- David Luiz could remain in Arsenal for another competitive season
- Mikel Arteta has urged the club to keep their center-back for another year
- Luiz was spotted with Benfica president and has been linked to his former club
David Luiz has been linked with a move to his former club Benfica but Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has urged the Gunners to keep their Brazilian center-back.
The 33-year-old made a cross-over move from Chelsea to the Emirates last summer and reports have linked him back to the Portuguese club after he was spotted with Benfica president.
Luiz who has had a jittery start to his campaign at north London has been in fine form since Arteta took over from Unai Emery.

Ahead of Arsenal's crucial tie against Man City Arteta hopes Luiz would remain at the club for another season.
"I'm really happy with David, I want to keep him here with us," Arteta said.
"He's been a key role model for me since I joined. I like what he produces on the pitch, I like his influence around the players and around the club. I would love to keep him."
Arsenal are currently ninth on the Premier League table and a win would take them within London rivals Chelsea who are in fourth position.
And the Spanish boss has insisted that his team can still make it through to Europe despite their slim chances in their remaining fixtures.
"We haven’t been able to achieve the goals we have wanted in the last three years and there is a reason behind it,” he said. “If we stand still that gap will become bigger and bigger. I haven’t come here to accept that.
“The fact that we’ve not been in the Champions League has put an enormous amount of pressure on the club in financial terms.
“We know our responsibility and the aims – and how much that would relax the financial position that we are in. We are trying to put a plan together to improve what we have."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Hector Bellerin has been known for his kind gesture in giving, now the Arsenal star has promised to plant trees for every win until the end of the season.
The 25-year-old right-back took to his social media handle and vowed to plant 3,000 tree on every win his team records to help carbon emissions issues.
Arsenal have a big task at hand in taking on Man City in their first Premier League fixture in three months after the pandemic.
