Premier League side Newcastle United is now on the verge of being sold after American billionaire Henry Mauriss joined the race with £350m to buy the club.

For the past two seasons, there have been reports that Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley wants to sell the club with some Saudi Arabian billionaires said to be interested.

Amanda Staveley is the one leading the consortium where there have been talks with Mike Ashley over possible take over of the Premier League side.

According to the latest report by BBC, Henry Mauriss who is the CEO of Clear TV Media has decided to join the race in effort to acquire Newcastle United.

The report added that the American billionaire is ready to meet Mike Ashley's asking price for him to get the ownership of the club.

And a current takeover effort by Staveley’s group would have to fail prior to any other bid being considered having signed and legally agreed to a deal with Ashley.

All the required parties which include Staveley’s PCP Capital, the Reuben brothers, and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund are believed to have received signatures to progress with the bid.

According to the report on Sportbible which was also reported on Daily Mail, Floyd Mayweather explained in a question and answer segment that he is interested in Newcastle United.

In January this year, an unnamed Saudi Arabia billionaire was linked with a move to buy Newcastle United, but nothing came out of it.

Floyd Mayweather is known as the richest athlete in the world considering what he has gathered so far in his boxing career before he retired from the game of the ring.
