Salihu Lukman, the director-general of Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has sent a warning message to the leadership of the party ahead of Edo and Ondo states governorship elections.
The Sun reports that he said that it would be criminal of the party’s national leadership to conduct party primaries in the two states without displaying membership voters register.
Legit.ng gathered that in a statement he issued in Abuja, Lukman pleaded with the chieftains of the party not to watch it deteriorate under the headship of the national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
Lukman further claimed that the ruling party under Oshiomhole’s watch has betrayed its members, departed from the founding philosophy and taken Nigerian politics to a level far below what it was before 2015.
The DG said: "Anyone with the small residue of conscience and integrity must have been jolted by what is going on. It doesn’t matter what our preferences are, every member must be concerned and worried about what is going on. It may be easy to pass judgement on leaders. We must, however, recognise that the failings or limitations of our leaders are equally ours as members of the party.
“It is quite unfortunate that we found ourselves in this stagnant political water of brazen acts of the imposition of candidates through some applications of crude technicalities under the leadership of Oshiomhole as national chairman of the party."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that following the confirmation of the suspension of Oshiomhole as the national chairman of APC, the director-general of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Osita Okechukwu, hailed the court's verdict.
It was reported that he described Oshiomhole's suspension by the appellate court sitting in Abuja, as a big relief to the party.
