- Mikel Arteta has urged Arsenal to listen to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and attempt to meet his demands
- Aubameyang's deal with the Gunners runs out in 12 months
- The Arsenal captain recently revealed his club was yet to make a formal offer to him
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has made his feelings known regarding Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s stalemate with the club over a new contract.
Aubameyang had his say over the weekend about the situation where he described the conundrum whether to stay or leave the Emirates as “possibly the most important decision of my career."
The Gabon international, 30, is currently on a deal that is set to run out in the summer of 2021, and there have been reports that the club would be willing to cash in on him before then.

However, during a zoom call on Monday, June 16, Arteta gave a brutally honest take on the situation where he seemed to suggest it was in Arsenal’s best interest to give in to Aubameyang’s demands and dish a new deal.
"I think it's our responsibility to make him feel this is the right next step in his career,” said Arteta.
"In order to do that he needs to feel valued, that he belongs to us and we want him and then he needs to continue to believe that we can take this club forward in the way we want to and that he's going to be a key player to do that,” he said in the zoom press conference.
As far as Arsenal’s top scorer’s attitude amid uncertainty over his future was concerned, Arteta was pretty impressed by how Aubameyang was handling the situation.
On Aubameyang’s part, he made it clear he was yet to receive a proposition from the club.
He has consistently been linked with a move away from the Emirates as reports suggested he was discontent with the lack of Champions League football.
Ahead of the Premier League restart, Arsenal lie ninth on the log, eight points behind fourth place Chelsea and facing some tough fixtures in their next couple of games.
Arsenal should also be wary of another rising star, Bukayo Saka, whose contract is set to run down in 12 months.
Saka, against the odds, managed to flourish under Arteta, who revealed the club is also trying to sort the full back’s situation.
“We are trying, as a club, to finalise the deals that are more urgent and are a priority for us,” the Spaniard said.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has admitted he is at crossroads over his Arsenal future.
Aubameyang is currently in his final year at the Emirates with his deal set to expire at the end of June 2021.
Talks over a possible extension of his contract are understood to have stalled, leaving the prolific striker staring at an uncertain future.
The 30-year-old has come out to reveal there is no offer on the table, insisting it is the Gunners who hold the key to his future.
