The coronavirus pandemic is one that came and shook the world to its very core as many lives have been lost and no vaccine for it has been discovered yet.

Due to the pandemic, a lot of measures were put in place by the government to curb the spread of the virus and to also flatten the curve by reducing deaths.

One of the measures put in place was the ban on social gatherings and the directive to practice social distancing.

Just recently, controversial Nigerian singer, Naira Marley, was discovered to have gone against the ban on social distancing by performing at a packed event in Abuja despite living in Lagos.

In new details shared on social media, President Buhari’s special assistant on digital media, Tolu Ogunlesi, shared some of the things revealed by the aviation minister, Hadi Sirika regarding the issue.

It was revealed that the flight which took the singer from Lagos to Abuja was approved for a different purpose, which was to convey a Justice from Lagos to Abuja and back.

The aviation minister also revealed that the operations of the flight company responsible has been suspended indefinitely and will also be fined, among other disciplinary measures.

According to Tolu Ogunlesi, the aviation minister, Hadi Sirika said: “Going forward we will escalate the mechanisms we have in place, and we will be stricter in our approvals (and enforcement).”

Tweeting further, Ogunlesi said that the flight company, Execujet, provided false information and used the approval granted for an illegal operation.

Nigerians on Twitter condemned the concert, asking why the artiste would hold a concert without regards to social distancing when the country is battling COVID-19.
