- Moses Siloko Siasia has again been endorsed for the vacant Bayelsa West senatorial district seat in the Nigerian Senate
- The Bayelsa West Progressives Forum said Siasia is the only aspirant capable of defeating former governor, Seriake Dickson
- Siasia and Dickson are the leading aspirants for the race in the ruling PDP
Ahead of Bayelsa West senatorial by-election, a group, Bayelsa West Progressives Forum (BWPF) has endorsed Moses Siasia for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket for the seat.
Siasia is a former governorship candidate in the state and chairman of Nigerian Young Professionals.
The young entrepreneur and former Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson are the leading aspirants for the race in the ruling PDP.
The BWPF stated that Siasia possesses the vigour and capacity needed to represent the senatorial district at this challenging time, saying the political class in the senatorial district has failed to bring the much-needed growth and development to the Bayelsa West people.
In a statement sent to journalists on Monday, June 15, convener of the group, Dr Ebikabowei Akpos, said Siasia is the only candidate who can defeat former governor Dickson in the race.
Consequently, the group urged all sons and daughters of Bayelsa West to ensure that Siasia emerges victorious at the polls.
Part of the statement read: “We have come to the conclusion that our amiable son, Moses Siloko Siasia, has brighter prospects.
“If he heeds our call to join the race, we have no doubt that all who have been yearning for a breath of fresh air in our area, would vote for him.”

The BWPF had earlier called on Siasia to contest for the election in a statement sent to journalists on Saturday, May 16.
The BWPF noted that whatever choices they make now will either make or mar the collective aspirations of the senatorial district.
Apart from the BWPF, other youth, women and pressure groups in Bayelsa West have reportedly decided to support the young entrepreneurs in his quest to get the PDP ticket ahead of the rerun poll.
The groups were said to have lined up behind Siasia because of his age and exposure in the private sector coupled with his connections outside the state.
