Eminent political economist and former consultant of the World Bank, Dr Uche Igwe has condoled with the minister of transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi on the death of his elder brother Charles (Dede) Amaechi.
In a condolence letter personally signed by him, Dr Igwe said, “My Dear Leader, I wish to join President Muhammadu Buhari and all your numerous well-wishers across the country to express my heartfelt condolences to you at this moment of grief.
“Dede was not only an elder brother to you but to all of us. He was a very lively, passionate but easy-going man who loved life.
“The wish of many of us would have been for him to live a little longer but only God knows the best.
“May God comfort you and the entire Amaechi family at this time and may the soul of Dede rest in perfect peace. Amen.”
Similarly, President Muhammadu Buhari has also condoled with the minister.
“In this moment of grief, our thoughts and prayers are with the Amaechi family and people of Rivers state,” the president said in a statement signed by his media aide, Garba Shehu.
President Buhari urged the two-time director-general of his election campaigns to find strength in the notable legacies of his late brother.
On his part, Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has commiserated with the minister over the death of his elder brother.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Sunday, June 14 by the Rivers commissioner of information, Paulinus Nsirim, Governor Wike described the demise of the deceased as a great loss not only to the family but the entire state.
He prayed God to grant the minister and his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Recall that Dr Igwe recently extended his felicitations to the minister on his 55th birthday anniversary.
In a letter addressed to the minister, he described Amaechi as a courageous, caring and compassionate leader who has left indelible infrastructural footprints in his home state and across the country.
