An unidentified Norwich player has tested positive for COVID-19 as two out of the 1,200 players and club staff who gave samples on Thursday and Friday, came out positive.
According to a statement on Norwich website, the player will now miss the club’s Project Restart opener against Southampton on Friday, June 19.
The Norwich statement read: “In line with the Premier League’s protocols, the player will now self-isolate for seven days before being tested again.
“The player must return a negative test result before resuming training.
“The club will not name the player and asks that his request for privacy and confidentiality are respected at this time.”
However, the news could come as a bit of scare for Tottenham as they recently faced Norwich City in a friendly game which they lost 2-1.
And reports claim the unnamed Norwich player featured in the game at Tottenham.
But a Tottenham insider has said: “The Norwich player has confirmed he had no ‘close contacts’ with our team and our squad verified this.”
The second case aside that of the Norwich player is yet to be identified.
