- Samuel Chukwueze put up a five-star performance against Celta Vigo
- The youngster came off the bench to provide the assist for his club
- Manuel Trigueros grabbed a late winner to help Villarreal take all three points
Nigeria’s Samuel Chukwueze was instrumental for Villarreal as he came off the bench to help his side to a vital away win at Celta Vigo in the Spanish La Liga.
It was a five-star performance for the youngster who came off the bench to replace Gerard Moreno in the 58th minute to propel his side to steal all three points away from home.
Chukwueze almost scored a superlative goal late on when he navigated through the entire defence of the opposition as he glides past three defenders before his shot bounced off the goalkeeper after he rounded him.
However as the match was heading for a stalemate, Manuel Trigueros grabbed a late winner on the first minute of stoppage time as the visitors ran away with all three points; it ended Celta Vigo 0-1 Villarreal.
Now with 43 points from 28 matches in the La Liga this season, Villarreal remain 8th on the standings while Celta Vigo who have 26 points from the same number of matches are just a point off the relegation zone in 17th place.
Barcelona who play Mallorca remain number one in the standings 58 points, two points ahead of second placed Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, Chukwueze has showered encomiums on his mum on her birthday as the 21-year-old attacker took to social media to celebrate her, telling her how much he loves and cherishes.
While sharing her picture on his official Instagram page, the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations bronze winner said: "Happy birthday sweet mom, I love you so much, God bless your new age."
He will form a major part of coach Gernot Rohr's team as they continue their qualification for the 2021 AFCON championship as soon as national team football is given the green light to return.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Erling Haaland seems to be unstoppable upon return of action in the Bundesliga as he came off the bench to score the only goal to help Borussia Dortmund defeat Dusseldorf.
The 19-year-old rose highest to head home a screamer in the 95th minute to help his side steal a late win to put pressure on league leaders Bayern Munich.
Haaland flicked the ball with his head to grab all three points for his side making it his 11th goal in 12 appearances
