Following success at the Edo governorship screening committee, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has commended the committee for what he described as a thorough job.

He disclosed this in a statement by his John Mayaki, his campaign organisation, director of communication and media, The Nation reports.

Going further, he said the exercise shows the character of the APC which is built on fairness, accountability, and transparency.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that to make certain his resolve to contest in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Edo, Governor Godwin Obaseki has picked and submitted his form.

Obaseki submitted the nomination and expression of interest form at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday, June 3.

The form was received by Barrister Emma Ibidiro, the national organising secretary, The Nation reported.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the APC's gubernatorial aspirant in Edo, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, had reacted to claims that he had quit the governorship race.

Ize-Iyamu described the report as laughable attempts by his detractors to mislead Nigerians, party members and supporters.

The politician added that the false claims were fabricated by those who are afraid of challenging him at the polls during the forthcoming election.

Ize-Iyamu, therefore, called on the public to disregard the rumours propagated by persons who lack credibility.

In another post, Legit.ng reported that Ize-Iyamu might have hit a brick wall as chairmen of the party in Edo state said he did not meet the conditions for a waiver granted to him by some members of the NWC.

The chairmen from the 18 local government said Ize-Iyamu as the consensus candidate would not stand as he was not a member of the party.

The APC chairmen led by Ben Oghomu, on Thursday, May 28, at the state party secretariat in Benin, described Ize-Iyamu’s consensus candidature in Abuja on Tuesday, May 26, as null, void and of no effect.
