- Arsene Wenger sees no reason why Barcelona are trying to replace Suarez
- The former Arsenal manager says the Uruguayan is important to the club
- Wenger also urged the Barcelona coach to give Griezmann more time
Arsene Wenger has pointed out that Barcelona are making a big mistake in trying to sign another striker as a replacement for Luis Suarez, when the transfer window opens.
Wenger is convinced that the Uruguayan forward does not need replacing, but the La Liga club are desperate in bringing in a new striker.
The Catalan giants are heavily linked with a whopping £99million bid for Inter Milan frontman Lautaro Martinez who could be possibly replacing the former Liverpool striker who has struggled with injuries in recent times.
Spanish League giants Barcelona appear to have reached personal agreement with Inter Milan attacker Lautaro Martinez ahead of a summer move.
The Argentine star has been on the Catalans radar all season long as a long term replacement for aging Luis Suarez.
However, his move to Camp Nou will see him earn about £205,000-a-week once it is completed but his Italian League club is not ready to allow him leave for anything below his £98 million release clause.
Recall that Antoine Griezmann completed a staggering £107million move to the Camp Nou side last summer, he has not been able to replicate his Liverpool form.
Wenger warned Barcelona manager Quique Setien that he should begin to trust Suarez as well as give Griezmann more time to settle.
"Personally, I'm not sure that Suarez needs to be replaced," Wenger told beIN .
"I still think Griezmann at some stage will start to score goals, he doesn't look completely adapted, maybe now after confinement he will be refreshed because he's a good goalscorer as well.
"But I'm convinced they will buy another striker as well."
