Renowned writer Chimamanda Adichie loses dad

- Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's father, James Nwoye Adichie, has died at age 88

- According to reports, he passed away on Wednesday June 10, 2020 after a brief illness

These are sad times for the family of internationally celebrated Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie as she recently lost her father, James Nwoye Adichie at age 88.

According to reports, Nwoye Adichie passed away on Wednesday June 10, 2020 after a brief illness, at Chira Memorial Hospital, Awkuzu, Anambra state.

He was an Emeritus Professor of Statistics and Mathematics at the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN). He was married to Chimamanda's mom, Grace Ifeoma, who was the university's first female registrar

They have 6 children, Chimamanda being the 5th born.

In December 2019, the Purple Hibiscus author had visited her aged parents in a bid to festive celebrate the season with them.

She shared a video of her parents as they happily conversed in their native tongue.

In the video, her mum and dad could be seen donned in traditional outfits as she filmed them on camera and hailed them in her native tongue.

Only a while ago, the chairman of First Bank of Nigeria, Ibukun Awosika, lost her father, Abdul Moshood Adekola, at the age of 87, on April 20. The top businesswoman and author took to her official Instagram page to share the sad news.

Sharing a young photo of her late father, she wrote a beautiful message of appreciation for all the things he did for her and her siblings while alive. Her father who was a single dad until his death lost his wife in 2001.
