Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be faced with a squad selection headache in the midfield when Premier League resumes next weekend.
The EPL has been on hold for weeks owing to the outbreak of deadly coronavirus and with normalcy gradually returning, the league is set to make a return as from Wednesday, June 17.
United will battle Tottenham Hotspur away from home on Friday, June 19, in a match that could prove pivotal in the Red Devils' race to finish in the top four.
But given Brazilian star Fred and Scott McTominay were in perfect shape before the cancellation of the campaign, Solskjaer has to rethink his squad set up with both Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes available for selection.
But SunSport reports the United manager has already decided on handing Pogba the No.10 role, flanked by Fernandes and Matic on either side.
Fernandes, a January signing from Sporting Lisbon first appeared to mark the beginning of the end of Pogba’s second spell at Old Trafford.
However, Solskjaer now looks to pair the two midfielders in a new-look team set up.
Pogba is primed to play at the top of a diamond midfield formation, with Fernandes being used deeper as a No.8 playmaker.
McTominay has been slated for a holding role in front of the defence alongside Matic, with Fred possibly dropping to the bench.
