Spanish League giants Real Madrid have reportedly jumped in the chase for German youngster Kai Havertz who has been dubbed new Michael Ballack.
The 21-year-old attacker has scored 15 goals and eight assists for his Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen across competitions this campaign.
He has however been linked away from the club despite having a deal with them until the summer of 2022.
SunSport reports that Premier League side Chelsea remain in the pole position to secure the services of the midfielder at the end of the day.
The Blues are confident they can win the race with a proposed bid of about £70 million but will have to match the financial capacity of the La Liga club.
German League table-toppers Bayern Munich have also said to be a long term admirer of the player, and they appear favoured to be successful with his signature.
Apart from Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool are also looking out for the midfielder to join their respective outfits.
Though Leverkusen are not willing to allow their star player to leave soon, they might be put under immense pressure with choice European clubs showing interests in him.
Chelsea's recent move according to the Sun has pushed them to the summit of the queue of bidders, as they edge closer to sealing Timo Werner's deal from RB Leipzig.
Havertz prefers to remain at his present club until his deal expires but might not be able to resist all the advances of other top European clubs.
