- Paul Pogba could eventually be sold this summer
- The World Cup winner has one more year on his current deal with Manchester United
- Michael Owen wants the Red Devils to cash in on his deal and fund Jack Grealish's signing
Former Manchester United star Michael Owen believes the arrival of January transfer signing Bruno Fernandes has made Paul Pogba replaceable at Old Trafford.
The Frenchman has struggled for fitness all through this season making less than 10 appearances with no goal across competitions so far.
He rejoined the Red Devils from Juventus in 2016 but after the first year of his second stint, the player has been seriously criticised for his lack of commitment among others.
The former England international has now urged his former club to allow the World Cup winner leave in a bid to raise funds for Jack Grealish's signing this summer.
Aston Villa star, on the other hand, has been superb for his side - scoring seven goals and six assists in the Premier League while helping them reach the Carabao Cup final.
Owen told Premier League Productions: "That’s going to be probably the most fascinating thing when they come back, whether he puts them both [Pogba and Fernandes] in the same team.
"I think it’s taken a huge bit of pressure off him that Fernandes has done fantastically well. Now he doesn’t necessarily have to put Pogba in straight away because there’s going to be questions about whether they can play together.
"It might also accelerate the departure of Pogba now Fernandes is a brilliant player because all of a sudden… when you’re watching Manchester United you’re missing someone with creativity, you’re missing someone with vision but now since Fernandes has come in you’re not missing any of that."
Owen further stated that Grealish seems more tailor-made for the current United team than Pogba, adding: "Now he [Pogba] might just be dispensable if they get a big bid.
"If I was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer I could get big money bearing in mind they’ve got Fernandes now and then you could go and invest in someone like Grealish.
"He might have the style that compliments Manchester United better than Pogba does at the moment."
Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United appear to have shifted their focus on signing the duo of Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish this summer.
The Red Devils announced another loan spell for Nigerian star Odion Ighalo until January 2021 earlier this month.
His initial temporary stay at Old Trafford saw him scored four goals and one assist in nine appearances across competitions but that was rudely prolonged due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
