Man United's bid to land Barcelona's Ansu Fati have hit the rocks after giving up on Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho, reports from Spain claim.
It is understood that the Premier League giants made a sensational £89million bid for the 17-year-old but was turned down.
United are among the clubs that have been on the trail of Sancho who has been valued at £100m by the Bundesliga side but the winger is not yet convinced of a switch.
According to Spanish news media outfit Sport, the Red Devils made an audacious attempt to sign Ansu Fati but was turned down.
The report claimed that since the arrival of Martin Braithwaite the youngster was limited to playing time.
And the recoveries of Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele would further make Fati drop from the pecking order.
Fati's super agent Jorge Mendes pushed for the move to the Premier League club but it is understood Barcelona were determined to keep their teenage sensation.
Mendes reportedly pressed La Blaugrana to place a price tag on the youngster and was told his release clause was £151m after he signed a new three-year deal in 2019.
A few days later, reports claim that Mendes pressed further told La Liga champions the LaLiga leaders he has a potential buyer in the shape of Manchester United.
Barca's sporting department were forced to take the £89m offer to the board to have the final say and Josep Maria Bartomeu insisted Fati was not to be sold under any circumstance.

According to reports, the Super Eagles striker was racially abused in during his spell with Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.
Omasports claim the 21-year-old is bothered about the hostile nature he would face if he joins the top Italian club, despite their keen interest.
