A top member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Edo state chapter, Hon Patrick Obahiagbon, has said that the truce efforts by governors of the party to settle the rift between Governor Godwin Obaseki and his predecessor, Adams Oshiomhole is late and futile.

Obahiagbon who served as Oshiomhole's chief of staff when the APC national chairman was the governor of Edo revealed this in an interview with Vanguard.

The former member of the House of Representatives in reaction to the Edo APC crisis said the battle is not between Obaseki and Oshiomhole, but the governor and majority of the party members.

Speaking on APC governors trying to make peace between Obaseki and Oshiomhole, Obahiagbon said their belated efforts is a futile attempt to lock the stable doors.

"For those trying to make peace, I say unto them that blessed are the peace makers for they shall inherit the earth and kingdom of God only that their belated efforts is a futile attempt to lock the stable doors after the political horses have justifiably bolted," he added.

The former House of Reps member revealed conditions for peace between Oshiomhole and Obaseki. He said that if the party members approached the national chairman today and said they have forgiven the governors' political sins, Oshiomhole would support them.

Obahiagbon also noted that Obaseki was directed by Oshiomhole to go and make peace with party members but he did not heed to the request.

Edo election 2020: Obaseki fights hard to secure APC ticket, names Lalong, Sanwo-Olu to reconcile aggrieved members

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that a former Edo state commissioner of information, Chief Charles Idahosa, alleged that Governor Obaseki is facing opposition within the APC because he refused to part with some money.

Idahosa was quoted as saying those fighting Obaseki under the acronym of Edo Peoples Movement (EPM) led by APC national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, are determined to oust Obaseki because he refused to share the state’s resources to them.

His words: “The issue is that Oshiomhole cannot be trusted and that is why we are not leaving anything to chance here in Edo. The governor has performed creditably well.

“Even those fighting the governor under the acronym of Edo Peoples Movement (EPM) led by Oshiomhole have not accused him of non-performance."

In other news, Osita Okechukwu, the Voice of Nigeria (VON) director-general, has warned that Oshiomhole is no longer the APC national chairman.
