Earlier, Legit.ng reported that ahead of the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Edo, Governor Obaseki has insisted that the indirect primary mode is what the state will adopt.

Governor Obaseki, through his special adviser on media and communication strategy, Crusoe Osagie, said that going by the safety rules outlined by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, only indirect primary is appropriate for the state at this time.

Osagie added that the governor's position is backed by the rule of the PTF which pointed out that governors "should manage the pandemic through measures unique to their states."

In other news, the crisis bedeviling the Edo chapter of APC has put the presidency in dilemma following a clear indication that Adams Oshiomhole and Governor Obaseki are not ready to bury the hatchet.

The primary election of the party is slated for June and the Oshiomhole-led national working committee had opted for direct primary for the election in the state.

The direct primary will allow all the card-carrying members of the party to decide the candidate who will bear the flag of the party during the guber election scheduled for September.
