Robert Lewandowski hit a major milestone in his career after inspiring Bayern Munich to victory against Bayer Leverkusen over the weekend.
The Poland international scored the Bavarians' fourth goal in their 4-2 victory at the BayArena to increase his tally in a single season to 44 goals - his personal best.
A goal each from Kingsley Coman, Leon Goretzka, Serge Gnarby and the 31-year-old saw the German champions bounce back from one goal down and cruise to victory at the end of the game.
Lucas Alario gave the visitors an early scare after finding the back of the net just nine minutes into the game at the BayArena.
As reported by Goal.com, Lewandowski has scored 40 goals or more in five consecutive seasons - with a total of 235 efforts in just 279 appearances for Bayern.
The striker has also hit 30 goals mark in the Bundesliga for the third time since the first time he achieved the feat in the 2016-17 season. He has scored 44 goals in all tournaments this season.
His superb form has helped the Bavarians make history after recording 90 goals across 30 games in 2019-20 and no Bundesliga club has never been as destructive.
Bayern are known for their high scoring ability but Hans-Dieter Flick seems to have given his players another level of freedom which makes them go all out.
Overseeing just 20 German League matches as the club's head coach, he has a record number of goals scored during the early months of his Bundesliga reign.
Thomas Muller created the assist for Lewandowski's goal against Leverkusen and that made him match Kevin De Bruyne's record of 20 across any given campaign in the German top flight.
The Bavarian's return to action against Borussia Monchengladbach at the Allianz Stadium next weekend.
