- Victor Osimhen says he wants Odion Ighalo to return to Super Eagles
- Odion Ighalo retired from the national team after 2019 AFCON
- The Nigerian striker was the highest goal scorer at the tournament with 5 goals
Victor Osimhen has confirmed his readiness to welcome back Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo back to the Super Eagles if the striker wants to return.
There have been talks of Victor Osimhen returning to the Super Eagles since he joined Manchester United in January in which the player has not made a statement on it.
Odion Ighalo decided to hang his international boots after the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt where Nigeria finished as third best in the championship.
He finished as the highest goal scorer in the tournament with fives goals before he quit the Super Eagles.
And since he stepped out, Victor Osimhen has been leading Super Eagles attack and has been impressive even before Ighalo retired.
Speaking about the possibility of Odion Ighalo returning to the Super Eagles, Victor Osimhen explained that he will be glad to see him return.
“He is always welcome, he contributed a lot for the National team and even at the Afcon in 2019, whether I am playing or I’m on the bench, watching him from the side will also help me learn a lot from him. I have no problem with it at all.
“Ighalo is a very good forward and inspirational player, not just for Nigeria but also for the footballing world. I draw some inspiration from him,'' Osimhen told ojbsport.com.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo vowed that he will walk off the pitch if he gets any form of racial abuse again in his career and the referee does nothing about it.
Racial abuse is the latest talks everywhere in the world and not because it is new, but how African-American George Floyd was killed made thousands angry and frustrated.
George Floyd was arrested by American police who gave him no chance to defend himself in which one of them even knelt on his neck until he passed out.
The act of wickedness by the American police made many storm the streets in the US calling for justice over the death of George Floyd.
While speaking with Sky Sports, Odion Ighalo made it clear that he was called names in China before he returned to England and vowed not to accept that again.
