Former minister of finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, is one of the many Nigerians the country and Africa as a whole are proud to have.

A renowned economist, she has worked with the World Bank. Presently, she sits on the boards of Twitter, Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, and African Risk Capacity.

It should be noted that she was the minister of finance under both the administration of Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan.

In a tweet shared by Africa Facts Zone on Friday, June 5, it was revealed that Okonjo-Iweala and her four children namely Onyinye Iweala, Uzodinma Iweala, Okechukwu Iweala, and Uchechi Iweala all graduated from Harvard University.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that President Muhammadu Buhari reportedly approved the nomination of Okonjo-Iweala for the position of director-general of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

It was gathered that Iweala’s nomination was approved by the president on Thursday, June 4. Buhari withdrew the candidacy of Yonov Frederick Agah, Nigeria’s permanent representative to WTO, for the same position.

The election for the position is scheduled to hold in Geneva, Switzerland in 2021 for a four-year term that would run from 2021 to 2025.

Earlier, former president Goodluck Jonathan sent a congratulatory message to the former minister on her appointment as a member of South Africa’s Presidential Economic Advisory Council.

Jonathan, in a message on his official Facebook page, said he has no doubt in his mind that the former minister will excel in the new assignment.

In other news, one of Nigeria's foremost statemen, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, also popularly known as IBB, celebrated his Eid al-Fitr with family, children, and grandkids.

In photos shared by media mogul, Dele Momodu, the former military president of the country could be seen surrounded by love.
