Prosecutors have brought forward new criminal charges against the four policemen implicated in the death of George Floyd.

One of the officers was already being held in custody over the death of the 46-year-old, while three more were arrested for their roll in the murder.

Floyd died after one of the officers kept his knee on his neck for eight minutes.

In an attempt to see the guilty officers brought to book and end racial prejudice, many Americans have taken to the street to protest.

The Baltimore Police Department has seemingly joined the cause and shared some powerful images of officers kneeling down in tribute.

Another image showed officers joining arms with protesters in solidarity and Legit.ng noted that the tweet started trending.

The tweet can be seen below.

However, based on the comments, it soon became apparent that social media users were not impressed by the gesture.

Many alluded to widespread corruption within the department and cited recent cases to back up their claims.

"You murdered Freddie Gray and no amount of collaborators you parade in front of cameras will erase that fact."

Lura Groen (@lura_groen) shared a suggestion:

"Great. Now set down your weapons and renounce your badges, turn in every officer you’ve ever witnessed commit a crime or beat a suspect, and beg forgiveness."

Maryl (@IllCaesarer) said,

"There was a good cop in BPD. His name was Sean Suiter. He was assassinated for testifying that his CO planted dru*gs on people. The department commissioned a phoney investigation that was filled with irreconcilable inconsistencies and claimed his death was a sui*cide."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that George Floyd's baby mama, Roxie Washington, spoke out on Tuesday, June 2, for the first time - mourning the loss of her 6-year-old daughter's dad.

In a short tearful presser in Minneapolis, US, Roxie said she wanted justice for Floyd because he was a good man and Gianna was the proof, pointing to her daughter.

The emotional lady said she wanted everyone to know that Gianna was denied the chance of ever seeing her father again and the late Floyd would never see her grow up and graduate school.
