Sexual abuse allegation: Peruzzi refutes claim, apologizes for insensitive tweets in the past

The past few hours have been filled with drama for Davido Worldwide Music (DMW) artist, Peruzzi Vibes, following accusations of rape which were levelled against him.

Peruzzi has now taken to his official page on Instagram to issue an official statement on the matter and refute the claim of sexual abuse against him.

The Nana crooner in his statement maintained that he has never and will never force himself upon anyone for sexual gratification. He categorically stated that the claim levelled against him is false.

According to him, rape is a heinous act and he does not condone it in any manner.

The singer, however, took complete responsibility for some of his old tweets that surfaced on social media. The singer in the posts had endorsed sexual abuse and tagged himself as a perpetrator.

Peruzzi noted that the posts which were shared eight years ago do not reflect his kind of person at the moment. He said he was younger at the time and did not have a full understanding of the implications of his tweets.

"I am ashamed and deeply apologetic for a series of tweets posted on social media 8 years ago. Those tweets were irresponsible and ill-formed. I was younger and didn’t fully grasp the implications of making such statements. They are neither a reflection of who I am then and now," the statement read in part.

Recall that before putting out the official statement, the singer had taken to his Instagram and Twitter pages to dissociate himself from sexual abuse.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that singer Davido unfollowed Peruzzi on the photo-sharing app, Instagram, amidst the sexual abuse drama. A look through the list of those Davido follows on the platform showed that Peruzzi was no longer on the list.
