Edo 2020: Don't interfere in APC guber primary - Obaseki to Oshiomhole

After returning his nomination form to the All Progressives Congress (APC) national secretariat, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo sent a warning to Adams Oshiomhole.

Obaseki told journalists on Wednesday, June 3, that the best thing for Oshiomhole to do come June 22, which is the fixed date for the governorship primary is to allow a free process have its course.

The Edo governor clearly stated: “I am using this opportunity to call on Comrade Oshiomhole to recuse himself from the Edo nomination process because he is an interested party."

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that to make certain his resolve to contest in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Edo, Obaseki picked and submitted his form.

Obaseki submitted the nomination and expression of interest form at the national secretariat of the APC on Wednesday, June 3.

The form was received by Barrister Emma Ibidiro, the national organising secretary.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the APC's gubernatorial aspirant in Edo, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, had reacted to claims that he had quitted the governorship race.

Ize-Iyamu described the report as laughable attempts by his detractors to mislead Nigerians, party members and supporters.

The politician added that the false claims were fabricated by those who are afraid of challenging him at the polls during the forthcoming election.

Ize-Iyamu, therefore, called on the public to disregard the rumours propagated by persons who lack credibility.

Denying the claims, Ize-Iyamu's media aide, John Mayaki, in a statement said: “It is a deliberate falsehood created and circulated by those who are afraid to confront him at the polls and are thus seeking ways to cause confusion and mislead the people.

“Pastor Osagie Ize Iyamu enjoys swelling support from party members across the 18 LGAs of the state. Therefore, he has no reason to quit the race.”
