- Kalidou Koulibaly has been linked with a move to Old Trafford
- Manchester United are said to have offered a sum of £71.5m to land Senegal defender
- Napoli, on the other hand, want more than the Red Devils are proposing before the player can move
Manchester United appear to have re-ignited their interest in Senegal international Kalidou Koulibaly after making a £71.5million offer for the defender.
About a year ago, the Red Devils landed Harry Maguire from Leicester City on a six-year deal valued around £80 million.
Making the Englishman the most expensive defender in the world having beaten the £75 million Liverpool paid for Dutchman Virgil van Dijk.
Although, United are not the only club jostling for the centre-back's signature, as the Reds and Paris Saint Germain also said to be interested in the player.
However, Napoli will not bulge as they feel they can make more money from the defender's deal if they hold up a little.
Daily Star reports that the Italian League giants are not in a good place financially at the moment and this might force them to succumb to the demands of their star's suitors.
The San Paolo side could be severely hit by the economic crisis caused by the deadly coronavirus. and it could be compounded if they fail to qualify for Champions League.
Napoli's earlier valuation of their player may not be met with the Premier League side offering £70m but the Serie A club wants something around to £90m.
This is about £27 million less than the £107m price the club's president Aurelio De Laurentiis slapped on the solid defender last year.
Koulibaly would become the most expensive defender in the world if United decide to pay the staggering amount demanded by Napoli.
Daily Star believes the player might push for a move away from the club if they fail to qualify for UCL next season as they currently sit 24 points behind league leaders Juventus.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United have prolonged Odion Ighalo's stay at Old Trafford until January 2021, after reaching a consensus with his parent club in China.
The 30-year-old's initial deal expired on May 31, but after negotiations between the two clubs, Shanghai Shenhua granted their player the chance to stay with the Red Devils until next year.
However, that did not happen for free as the Premier League club was said to have coughed out about £10 million to achieve their goal.
