Napoli manager Gennaro Gattuso is bereaved after losing sister Francesca who was placed in intensive care for about four months, SunSport reports.
According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Francesca was taken to an intensive care after suffering from an illness which was not named.
It was gathered that the manager had in February missed a pre-match conference before his side’s 4-2 victory over Sampdoria this season.
Gattuso was reportedly informed of his sister’s illness by his wife Monica as it was said that Francesca was a secretary at Serie A club AC Milan until her death.
She was earlier rushed to the hospital in Busto Arsizio as she reportedly required urgent surgery.
"Francesca Gattuso faced her illness with the same strength and energy she brought to Milanello and AC Milan every day.
"Rino, the immense pain you and your family are feeling is also ours. Rest in peace, dear Francesca," AC Milan tweeted.

It was gathered that the tragic incident occurred on Saturday, May 16, around 10 pm when the little boy was playing on the balcony at his house when he lost his balance and fell three floors.
The young boy was rushed to the San Donato Hospital in Arezzo, but was declared dead upon arrival.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Zlatan Ibrahimovic may have been handed a career-ending injury after the AC Milan suffered Achilles setback.
The 38-year-old striker joined the Italian League giants earlier this year as a free agent on a short-term loan deal. However, his future on the pitch remains in doubt especially with his contract with Milan set to expire this summer.
SunSport quoting Sky Sports Italia via Marca claims the ex-Manchester United forward could have ruptured his Achilles tendon.
He was said to have picked up the terrible injury after returning to Milan's training ahead of Serie A's return in the coming days. However, he will have to undergo medical tests before the extent of his injury could be discovered and how long he is expected to stay on the sidelines.
