COVID-19: Apologise to Kogi people for misleading them - PDP asks Yahaya Bello

Following the lockdown imposed on a local government area of Kogi state, the PDP has asked Governor Yahaya Bello to apologise for misleading the people on COVID-19.

This was contained in a statement by the PDP national publicity secretary Kola Ologbondiyan, which was shared on the party's official Facebook page on Monday, June 1.

Ologbondiyan in reaction to the lockdown explained that the Bello needs apologise for not providing the desired leadership in the state since the outbreak of the disease and not allowing the testing of COVID-19.

The PDP national secretary who is from Kabba Bunu that is on lockdown said the governor did not show the required seriousness in leadership in the fight against coronavirus in Kogi state.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Governor Bello-led government insisted that the north-central state is still free of coronavirus scourge despite fresh discovery. The state's utter denial coincided with the report by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announcing two cases in the state.

Saka Haruna Audu, Kogi health commissioner, in a statement on Wednesday, May 27, said the state has conducted hundreds of Covid-19 tests out of which none came out positive.

He stressed that Kogi has a full testing capacity and any attempt to force the state to announce cases of coronavirus will be completely rejected.

The highlight of the NCDC's data on Wednesday evening, May 27, showed that Kogi joined the list of those with Covid-19 cases as Cross River is yet to record a single one.

The cases were confirmed by the federal health agency who gave an update via its Twitter page

In a related development, Governor Yahaya finally took heed to the warnings of the NCDC with the decision to impose a total lockdown in Kabba-Bunu local government area in the state.

The decision of the governor over the Kabba-Bunu LGA was made known on Monday, June 1, in a statement made available to Legit.ng by his chief press secretary, Onugwo Muhammed.
