Obaseki blames Adams Oshiomhole for problems in Edo state

The Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki, has blamed the national chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, for the problems in the state.

The governor made the allegation on Monday, June 1, shortly after he emerged from a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said while people in Edo state were in support of his second term bid, forces in Abuja were opposed to his re-election, The Cable reported.

Meanwhile, a political group based in the FCT, Abuja, Obaseki Mandate Forum, has reportedly obtained nomination forms for the re-election of Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state.

The Nation reports that the group's chairman, Nathaniel Momoh, obtained the form on Wednesday, May 27, from the party’s national secretariat on behalf of Governor Obaseki.

Momoh said the forum joined forces with people from Edo state to buy the nomination and expression of interest form for the governor.

He said the forum decided to purchase the forms for Obaseki as a result of his impressive performance in the last four years.

In another report, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, the immediate past national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday, May 21, passed a vote of confidence on Edo and Ondo governors, Godwin Obaseki and Rotimi Akeredolu.

The Nation reported that the former Edo governor said both Obaseki and Akeredolu should be given the party’s ticket for re-election.

Legit.ng gathered that he emphasised that the governors have “performed creditably well and should be returned unless they do not do wish.”

Odigie-Oyegun said his call for the support for the two governors was informed by the agreement reached to settle the leadership crisis at the national level that threatened its existence.

He, however, cautioned the party’s leadership from imposing candidates, calling for free and fair primaries in both states.
