- Marcus Rashford reportedly held talks with Barcelona in 2018
- The 22-year-old had his debut for Manchester United in 2015
- Reports have it that he agreed a deal with the Spanish club in 2018 before making U-turn
Fresh reports have it that Marcus Rashford had talks with Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona in 2018 and already agreed terms with the club before sealing a new deal with Manchester United.
The youngster’s profile has continued to rise since he made his debut for the Old Trafford club becoming one of the most crucial players.
It was gathered that his sparkling form after his first season at United had attracted the La Liga giants that they contacted the player not long after the 2017/18 campaign started.
Manchester United’s recent poor form could just be the yardstick for the player who has just two years left with the club to move to Spain.
According to SunSport, Rashford was said to have agreed on a switch to the Nou Camp.
He left the deal in the hands of his brothers, and was 'excited' at the prospect of taking the next step of his career at such an illustrious club.
Behind the scenes they were still working on potential deals for Luka Jovic - who ended up moving to rival club Real Madrid - and eventual signing Antoine Griezmann.
And it seems Rashford had second thoughts too, backtracking on a deal as he feared he wasn't ready for the pressures which come with moving club and trying to adapt to life in a different country.
On the other hand, Barcelona may have been handed a boost in their chase for Neymar Jr who has reportedly agreed to take a 50 percent wage cut before returning to Camp Nou.
The Brazilian forward became the most expensive player in the world in 2017 after securing a move valued around £198 million to Paris Saint Germain.
Three years down the lane, the Brazilian winger is now ready to force a move back to Catalonia and will make a financial sacrifice as reported by Daily Mail quoting Mundo Deportivo.
The 28-year-old currently earns £600,000-a-week at PSG but will not mind £300,000-a-week just to return to Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Atletico Madrid forward star Diego Costa has been alleged to have evaded tax payments after he paid not more than £900,000 from the money he earned from image rights.
It is believed that if he is found guilty, the former Chelsea star could still escape jail time as the law in Spain allows a judge suspend prison sentences of two years and below.
It was alleged that Costa did not pay more than £900,000 (€1million) from money earned by image rights.
