Some All Progressives Congress governors have reportedly arrived the national secretariat of the party to hold a meeting with the national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole over the fate of Governor Godwin Obaseki.
According to The Nation, the meeting is currently ongoing at the secretariat in Abuja.
Legit.ng gathers that governors present at the meeting include the Kebbi state governor, Atiku Bagudu, Ondo state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Gombe state governor, Mohammed Inuwa, Kano state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Kwara state governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrasak.
Recall that the governors had on Sunday, May 31, met with the APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The governors wanted Tinubu to assure them of his support for Obaseki ahead of the guber election slated for September.
The APC had earlier announced a direct process for its primary election, a plan said to be targeted against the re-election bid of Governor Obaseki who has been at loggerhead with his predecessor and former political godfather, Oshiomhole.
The governors urged Tinubu to help put pressure on President Buhari to support their push for the right of first refusal for Obaseki and Akeredolu.
Tinubu, according to the source, however, insisted that the protocols of the ruling party's national working committee must be obeyed.
At the meeting which lasted for two hours, Tinubu maintained that it was through the direct primary process that Governor Sanwo-Olu of Lagos and Gboyega Oyetola of Osun were elected in their respective states.
The former Lagos governor stressed that he believed in transparency and fairness that direct primary will bring into the democracy of the country.
Meanwhile, another report from Daily Trust has indicated that Governor Obaseki has arrived at the State House to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari.
Obaseki was spotted in a dark-coloured suit with a face mask as he made his way to meet the Nigerian leader.
