Popular Nigerian cleric and general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has taken to social media to react to the death of 22-year-old Uwa Omozuwa, who was raped inside an RCCG church and died a few days later.
The man of God who appeared to have heeded the call for him to wade into the matter, took to his Twitter page on Sunday, May 31, and completely condemned the unfortunate incident.
Adeboye sympathized with the family of the deceased who was a student of University of Benin (UNIBEN) and noted that he is praying for the bereaved family and also doing everything in his capacity to work with authorities in bringing perpetrators of the act to book.
He said: “All I can do at this time is to pray for the family of Omozuwa and do everything possible working with relevant authorities to bring the perpetrators to book.”
In a different portion of his post, the man of God made it clear that the act of rape that led to Uwa’s death was completely condemned. He, however, urged everyone to remain calm as he reiterated that hands are on the deck to look into the matter with the help of the police.
