A policeman on Sunday, May 31, reportedly shot some fellow police officers dead in the Onikan area of Lagos state.
The yet to be named policeman was said to have opened fire on his colleagues around 5am following a disagreement with members of his team, The Nation reports.
The shooter, who is said to be attached to the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), reportedly hijacked a police operational vehicle after shooting members of his team.
Reports stated that he also drove straight to Akoka in Yaba around where he attempted to gain access to a compound but couldn’t.
Sources said the renegade policeman then opened fire on a metallic gate of the compound in a bid to gain access to the property.
Panicked residents were said to have made distress calls to the Bariga police division which deployed operatives to the scene and restrained the shooter.

Eyewitnesses said the shooter was making incoherent statements at the time of his arrest, which made some to believe that he had suffered a possible mental breakdown.
Meanwhile, popular Nigerian cross-dresser Bobrisky has been arrested by the police over a N30m fraud case.
It was earlier reported that the male barbie was detained at the Ajah area command in Lagos. A video circulating the internet revealed the crossdresser in his white Range Rover alongside some police officers.
Confirming his arrest, The Nation reported that police spokesman DCP Frank Mba explained that Bobrisky was picked up after an Abuja-based public official petitioned the police accusing the brand-influencer of N30m fraud.
It was reported that Bobrisky had a misunderstanding with a Nigerian woman who is based abroad over the sales and marketing of an artificial eyelash brand.
In another news report, the creation of five new zonal commands and restructuring of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) was on Wednesday, May 27, approved by President Muhammadu Buhari, This Day reports.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by Mohammed Adamu, the Inspector-General of Police, who explained that the new structure for the force is expected to fully integrate intelligence-led policing strategy and community policing.
The five newly created commands are Ondo/Ekiti command, Enugu/Anambra/Ebonyi Command, Balyelsa/Rivers command, Katsina,/Kaduna command, and Yobe/Borno command.
