President Muhammadu Buhari, on Saturday, May 30, announced the death of one of his nephews, whose name was given as Alhaji Ibrahim Dauda.
Legit.ng understands that Duada died in his town of Daura, Katsina state, following what has been described as a prolonged illness.
Buhari made the announcement in a condolence message he released through one of his spokespersons, Malam Garba Shehu.
In the statement, Shehu, who is a senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, quoted Buhari as saying that death had stolen one of the finest gentlemen from the family and the Daura community.
The president expressed his deep pain at the loss of his nephew saying he was "deeply touched and devastated by the passing of yet another family member, a man who had demonstrated amazing kindness and honesty in all his dealings.”
In the statement also, Buhari, however, prayed God to forgive the soul of the deceased and reward his great and noble deeds with paradise.
Shehu noted that the late Daura was survived by a number of children, including Dauda Ibrahim, a Chief Administrative Officer in State House, Abuja.
Legit.ng had reported how Friday, May 8, was a sad day for both the immediate and extended families of President Buhari as the number one citizen of Nigeria mourned the death of his nephew, Mutari Dauda Daura.
The deceased nephew of President Buhari is the son of his uncle, Malam Mamman Daura, PM News reports.
Announcing the sad news, the president said: “Let me on behalf of myself and my family convey to you my deepest sympathy for the loss of Mutari Dauda. Death is inevitable and every soul must taste death one day.
“What we owe the dead are not tears, because our tears can’t bring them back, but what they deserve are our prayers," he had said.
Also, in 2019, Legit.ng reported that Abdullahi Dauda, a nephew to President Buhari, died, according to a statement released by Garba Shehu.
Shehu in a thread of tweets posted on Twitter via his verified handle, @GarShehu, said President Buhari commended the admirable life lived by his nephew and prayed to God to shower his blessings on the soul of the deceased.
