- Chelsea will consider Villarreal's rising Nigerian star Samuel Chukwueze as an alternative to Jadon Sancho
- Although Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho is Frank Lampard's first choice, the Blues will move for Chukwueze if they fail to land the English attacker
- Chukwueze has 12 goals and seven assists from 68 appearances for Villarreal
Villarreal star Samuel Chukwueze could become a transfer target for Chelsea if the London club fails to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho in the summer.
According to a report on Goal, Chelsea consider Chukwueze to be a much cheaper option than Sancho as he could be available for around £45million.
21-year-old Chukwueze has already emerged as a key player for Villarreal since breaking into the side during the 2018-19 season.
The Super Eagles star has 12 goals and seven assists from 68 appearances for the Spanish club.
He also has earned 13 appearances for Nigeria and has scored twice in that time.
Earlier in the season, Chukwueze was a target for Liverpool but Jurgen Klopp's interest appears to have cooled off as the Reds are on their way to the Premier League title.
Chelsea are now looking to land the Nigerian international with Willian out of contract at the end of June and looks no closer to extending his stay at the Blues where he has featured since 2013.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Chelsea star Willian seems to have confirmed that he is leaving the club at the end of the season.
This comes after the Brazilian revealed the Blues are not going about change their mind of giving him more than a 2-year contract as against the 3-year deal he wants.
Despite claiming his career at the Blues remain uncertain, Willian is prepared to sign a short-term extension so he can see out the remainder of the campaign as the Premier League season is due to run at least into July.
Speaking about his contract situation at Chelsea, Willian said: "It’s a difficult situation.
"Chelsea offered me two years and they are not going to change.
"I don’t know if it will be possible to stay. My goal is to continue working and focus on the remainder of the season, so that Chelsea can continue winning games.
"I have a clear head and I'm focused for the rest of the season that we have left. Let's see what happens."
