- Authorities revealed on Thursday, May 21, that he was arrested for allegedly laughing at Magufuli's old photo in a video he shared online
- This is not the first time Idris is being arrested over cyber-crime related issues

According to one of his lawyers, Benedict Ishabakaki, who spoke to members of the fourth estate on Thursday, May 21, Tanzanian police have been questioning and searching his premises for the past two days.
"Police have not informed us which law he broke. But judging by the flow of their questions it is clear the issue could be about a video he shared online," Benedict said.
However, the lawyer disclosed they had managed to secure bail for the comedian who should be released after the deposit, with two guarantors.
"We are expecting that he should be released on bail today. The only needed the bail and two guarantors recognised by local government," he added.
The BBA Winner was arrested to answer to alleged cyber-crime charges. Then, his team was still unaware of the exact offence that caused the arrest since police had not clearly stated the same to them.
"Idris was in Arusha attending a funeral. He was informed to report at Oysterbay police station upon his return. Now he is being held there to answer to alleged cyber-crime charges," one of his lawyers, Shilinde Swedy, disclosed.
This is not the first time Idris is being arrested over cyber-crime related issues. A couple of months ago, he was arrested and held for making a cartoon depiction of his president and shared it on social media.
The comedian was forced to apologise to the president, Tanzanians and everyone who felt offended, immediately after his release.
