- Lautaro Martinez could link up with Lione Messi at Barcelona this summer
- The 22-year-old hit a superb form for Inter Milan with 11 goals in 22 Serie A appearances this campaign
- Barca would include player in the deal to land the forward who is wanted as a replacement for Luis Suarez
Spanish League giants Barcelona reportedly edge closer to sealing a deal for Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez this summer.
The Argentine has been heavily linked with a move to join the Catalan club with Luis Suarez losing his spot due to age.
Martinez has 11 goals in 22 Serie A appearances for the Italian League outfit so far this campaign and Lionel Messi is hoping he can reunite with his countryman in Spain.
UK Metro further stated that the La Liga table toppers are also finetuning their strategies to re-sign their former star Neymar from Paris Saint Germain.
However, Argentine sports outlet Ole claims Barca are closing in on the deal for the forward and he could become the most expensive Argentinian player in history.
PSG star Angel Di Maria holds the record after joining Manchester United for £59.7 million from Real Madrid, however, the deal for Martinez is expected to eclipse that significantly.
The publication claims Barcelona have agreed to trigger the 22-year-old's release clause valued around £99.6 million.
Although it will not be entirely in cash with Inter agreeing to take a player as part of that total value, the identity of the player is yet to be known.
Meanwhile, the Spanish club has lined up Arturo Vidal, Nelson Semedo and Ivan Rakitic as part of the deal to bring Martinez to Camp Nou.
With the 22-year-old eager to link up with Messi at Barca, personal terms will not be a problem but a few minor details that needed to be sorted out in the agreement.
Messi has made no secret of how much he rates Martinez, telling Sport: "Lautaro is an impressive striker, especially because I think he is a very complete point: he is strong, he dribbles well, he has a goal, he knows how to protect the ball.
"But well, we will have to see what happens finally with him and with other names that have been mentioned."
Legit.ng earlier reported that Barcelona captain Lionel Messi had called Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez in his efforts to convince his fellow countryman to move to the Camp Nou this summer.
This latest development is according to Racing’s president of youth football Adrian Ruben Fernandez who claimed that a move for Martinez to Barcelona is close.
Chiefs at the Nou Camp have being eyeing a move for Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez since last summer in which they are still planning to go for his signature.
