UK-based doctor slams Pastor Ibiyeomie for saying COVID-19 does not exist

- A UK-based doctor, Idee Charles, has berated Pastor David Ibiyeomie for saying COVID-19 does not exist in Nigeria

- The pastor of Salvation Ministries was recently in the news for questioning the existence of the deadly disease in the country

- Idee says the pastor's ignorance is loud despite studying microbiology in school

Idee Charles, a UK-based doctor, has slammed Pastor David Ibiyeomie of Salvation Ministries for saying coronavirus does not exist in Nigeria.

In a video that was shared on social media, Idee said the pastor is insensitive and ignorant even though he studied microbiology in school.

She said the cleric has been deceiving gullible followers by questioning the existence of the virus which has killed a lot of people globally.

Idee said: "This is May, thousands of people have lost their lives, families have died, husbands have left children, wives have died, aunties, uncles, children even up to the age of five years have died under COVID-19."

Expressing dismay that the pastor was laughing while questioning the existence of the virus, Idee said the pastor's ignorance is so loud.

In other news, James Mahoney, a New York doctor who delayed his retirement to help lead his hospital's response to the coronavirus pandemic, has died after contracting the deadly disease.

The 62-year-old worked as a pulmonary and critical care physician at University Hospital of Brooklyn during the day and Kings County Hospital Center at night.

The doctor who worked tirelessly to treat coronavirus patients succumbed to the disease on April 27.

His family and colleagues pleaded with him to retire as they were concerned that his age could put him at a higher risk for severe illness, but the physician refused as he could not watch and do nothing.

Meanwhile, previously reported that health workers in the United Kingdom celebrated the recovery of a Nigerian doctor who was diagnosed with coronavirus.

Doctor Olagunju Ogunbiyi, who works at the Royal Free Hospital in the United Kingdom, said he had never been hospitalised prior to the COVID-19 illness.

When he was being discharged, Doctor Ogunbiyi thanked the health workers for taking care of him. ( -> We have updated to serve you better
