As many countries continue to set strict measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease, many have lost their lives to the deadly menace.

Five children have been orphaned after their father died following a long battle with Covid-19.

Posting on Facebook, one of the children identified as Mikee Plangca shared the news of her dad's death in a heartbreaking tribute.

"You fought a good fight papa. Thank you for everything. We will miss you. We love you!" wrote Mikee.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Plangca's five children, Stephanie, Mikee, Michael, John and Chekie, have been left all alone after losing their mother to cancer six years ago.

Well-wishers touched by the story have so far raised over KSh 1,523,000 (£13,000) just in four days to support the five children who are now under the care of their aunt.

Mikee thanked well-wishers for raising money to support the siblings, saying the love and support they have been receiving was unbelievable.

"The love and support that we have been receiving is unbelievable. Thank you to the two persons who helped us set up the GoFundMe page and for the continuous support from everyone. God bless us all!" she wrote.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that a 20-year-old suddenly became the head of the household after his parents passed away from Covid-19.

The orphaned young man is now responsible for his two siblings. His parents, Nameer (52) and Nada Ayram (46) arrived in the United States as refugees. The family arrived in America eight years ago and lived in Detroit, Michigan.

They contracted the coronavirus as the pandemic continued to wreak havoc across the globe, losing their lives within just weeks of each other.
