Covid-19: Nigerian youths produce face shields, donates 100 to Lagos govt

- A group of young Nigerians under the name MayWed Innova has given out 100 face shields to the Lagos state government as part of its plan to mass-produce 10,000 units

- The team said that its production process meets the international requirement as set out by Centre for Disease Control

- MayWed Innova added that they have the capacity to churn out 500 of the eco-friendly materials every day

A team of some Nigerian youths under the aegis MayWed Innova has started the local manufacturing of 10,000 face shields after they donated 100 of the material to the Lagos state government.

In speaking about the quality of the face shields, Aminat Ibrahim, one of the team members, said that their designs meet production standards based on the Centre for Disease Control requirements.

She said that the face shields are eco-friendly, reusable, and affordable, adding that they go along with the use of other PPEs.

The team said they could produce 500 of the protective material in a day and their target markets are not just health workers but all Nigerians during this time of combating coronavirus outbreak.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that popular Nigerian politician, Dino Melaye, made a laudable charitable gesture as he donated dozens of hand sanitizers and Vitamin C to people in Kogi state.

He said that he is giving out the materials without any religious or political bias. He said it does not matter who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party or All Progressives Congress as everybody will be treated equally.

"So there is no PDP, no APC, it's for everybody. God will heal our land in Jesus name," he said.

In related news, a dedicated team of local researchers said it is working on a Covid-19 vaccine with a modification process that can be completed within three weeks to combat Sars-Cov-2 virus and go through a human trial in six months.

Called the Home-grown Esco Aster, they are working with the United States biotechnology company, Vivaldi Biosciences, as they combine proteins from different viruses to find a cure.
