Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Bonaventure has revealed that he was with friends playing table tennis when he learnt Club Brugge have been crowned Belgian League champions.

This is the second time the 22-year-old has lifted the silverware since he moved to the Jan Breydel Stadium in 2017.

According to Sky Sports football in the European country will not return until late July having being suspended since mid- March due to the outbreak of deadly coronavirus ravaging the world.

The Nigerian star said he was tagged by someone who congratulated him for winning the title for the second time in the last three seasons.

Brugge were 15 points better than the second-place team Gent with just one match to wrap up the season so the decision to award them winners for this campaign might not be hard to reach.

Bonaventure told Sky Sports: "I was at my friends', we were playing ping pong. "I saw somebody tagged me in something and I went to look, I said to my friend, 'go and check', and he said 'yeah, you're champions, congratulations'. "It's a strange way [to win], but that's life.

He added: "Normally we would have a party but that's not possible right now so what I'm going to do is stay home with my friends and girlfriend and just drink some champagne."

The Nigerian star who scored twice against Real Madrid in the Champions League earlier this season has been linked with a move away from his present club.
