President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, May 18, received in audience Nigeria's former minister of defence, General Theophilus Danjuma at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. gathered that Danjuma arrived at the State House in the afternoon and headed straight to meet the Nigerian leader.

The agenda of the meeting is, however, yet unknown as at the time of filing this report.

In pictures shared by the presidency, Danjuma was seen exchanging greetings with the president's chief of staff Ibrahim Gambari and Buhari.

Danjuma who was the minister of defence during former President Olusegun Obasanjo's administration did not speak to State House correspondents after his meeting with the president.

The retired general was reportedly last sighted at the State House three years ago.

Meanwhile, previously reported that Femi Adesina, the special adviser to President Buhari on media and publicity, stated that contrary to the widely-published reports, there is no plan the president will address the country Monday, May 18.

It was earlier reported that President Muhammadu Buhari would address Nigerians in a nation-wide broadcast concerning the easing of the lockdown caused by the coronavirus crisis.

The national coordinator of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on Covid-19, Aliyu Sani, who made the disclosure, said that President Buhari would decide whether the country would embark on a second phase of the easing of the lockdown.

But Adesina in a tweet on Monday stressed that "none was planned" as being speculated.

In other news, President Buhari is engaged Nigerian governors in a virtual meeting over the state of the nation.

Governors, secretary to the government of the federation, Boss Mustapha, chief of staff to the president, Ibrahim Gambari, are all present at the meeting.
