Former Juventus and Italian football star Alessandro Del Piero has taken to social media to confirm that he is currently battling against kidney stones and on admission in hospital.

Del Piero was one of the most fearful attacking midfielders during his active playing days considering his style of play and the clubs he played for.

The 45-year-old however posted a stunning photo of himself on the hospital bed in Los Angeles explaining that he is surprised with the level of pains he is undergoing.

‘'I still can’t believe something 3mm small can hurt that much. I still can’t believe something only 3mm small can hurt that much,” wrote Del Piero.

Del Piero hung up his boots in 2014 having lifted the 2006 World Cup with Italy and 14 major titles in Juventus colours during his glittering career.

He later relocated to Los Angeles where he owns amateur football club LA10FC through his Edge Americas company.

Meanwhile, his family will hope Del Piero recuperates fast so as for him to continue with his normal daily activities.
