Police parade kidnappers of Oyo cleric Akewugbagold's twins, recover part of N4m ransom

- Police officers in Oyo have nabbed kidnappers of Islamic cleric Akwugbagold’s twin children

- Seven of the suspects were paraded at the police headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan

- Part of the N4 million ransom which was demanded has also been recovered

Officers of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), Oyo state command, have nabbed some suspected individuals over the recent kidnapping of the twin kids of popular Ibadan-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Taofeek Akuwgbagold.

According to reports by The News, the suspected kidnappers were paraded by the commissioner of police in Oyo state, Shina Olukolu, at the police headquarters situated at the Eleyele area of the state.

In addition to the arrest of the suspects, part of the N4 million ransom which they requested from the troubled cleric to free his children, has also been recovered. Vehicles and weapons which aided the suspects in their operation were also paraded before journalists in the state.

Rildwan Taiwo (30), Rafiu Mutiu (35), Olumide Ajala (36), Fatai Akanji (39), Bashiru Muhammed (25), Opeyemi Oyeleye (33) and Rafiu Modinat (29), were all nabbed in connection to the Akewugbagold kidnap case.

The report further noted that the only female member of the notorious gang identified as Modinat was in charge of taking care of the children during their time in captivity.

”I wish to inform you that in the sensational case of the kidnapping of the 2-year old twins of Alhaji Taofeek Azeez “Akewugbagold” on the 25″ April, 2020. All the suspects have been arrested with substantial parts of the ransom collected, the gun used for the operation, the two operational vehicles, and one motorcycle were also recovered from them," CP Olukolu was quoted to have said.

Recall that some weeks ago Legit.ng report that Akewugbagold took to his official page on Facebook to share the disturbing news of his children's kidnap. He pleaded with Nigerians who have useful information to come forward.

Akewugbagold also disclosed that his wife was barren for a lot of years before they finally welcomed the set of twins.
