Michael Jordan's first-ever Air Jordan sneakers sold for $560,000 at auction

- A record $560,000 was made in an online auction of the pair of trainers

A new hit documentary has featured the Nike sneakers which was worn by the US basketball legend Michael Jordan during his rookie season in the NBA.

In the documentary titled ‘The Last Dance’, the NBA star fetched a record $560,000 in an online auction of the pair of trainers.

The autographed Air Jordan 1s, designed for Jordan in 1985 and the first-ever signature sneakers, were expected to fetch between $100,000 to $150,000 in the auction that closed on Sunday, May 17.

Known for selling multimillion-dollar art, Sotheby’s held its first auction dedicated entirely to sneakers last year and had then set a world record of $437,500 for a pair of 1972 Nike running shoes known as the “Moon Shoe”.

Like most of Jordan’s basketball shoes, they are a mismatched pair in a size 13 (left) and size 13.5 (right).

And this is coming barely two weeks that NBA legend Michael Jordan was said to have turned down a whopping $100million just to attend a brand event for two hours.

This was disclosed by agent to the former Chicago Bulls star who stated that the ex-basketballer will always do whatever he wants.

Following his exploits in the game, Jordan who won the NBA six times has gone on to become the most marketable figure in sporting history - from his Air Jordan brand with Nike, worth over £1billion.

He also stands as a major spokesperson for Coca-Cola, McDonalds and Chevrolet, but it was gathered that he has remained careful how he related with the public.

According to the legend’s agent David Falk, several brands as well as clients have been turned down by the star since his rise to stardom in the mid-80's.

Legit.ng earlier reported that World boxing champion Mike Tyson has been reported that he allegedly wanted to attack basketball icon Michael Jordan when they met at a dinner in American 32 years ago.

The incident in 1988 was said to have occurred in Chicago when Tyson and Jordan went for a birthday party of NFL player Richard Dent.

According to the report on Sportsbible, Rory Holloway who was one of Mike Tyson's managers then is the one who revealed what actually transpired on that faithful day.

It was stated that Michael Jordan dated Tyson's wife Givens then and that was what caused the trouble between these two legends.
