Just like the latter, the Ye crooner has revealed a number of times that he is confident about his value as an Afrobeats singer. And to impress that on people's hearts, he calls himself the African giant.
Legit.ng has now gathered the three times that the Odogwu crooner told people to put some respect on his name.
1. Burna Boy vs Coachella
In 2019, the singer called out the organisers of the annual music and arts festival for printing his names on the poster of the event in small letters. According to him, he represents a whole generation of solid African creatives going global. He reiterated that he is an AFRICAN GIANT who will not be reduced to whatever the tiny writing meant while urging the organisers to fix things quickly.
As expected, the singer's reaction triggered many Nigerians and some people even made a correction on the poster by enlarging his name.
2. Burna Boy vs Reekado Banks
On Tuesday, March 31, 2020, Burna Boy got Nigerians talking on Twitter for his response to one of his colleagues, Reekado Banks.
The musician hosted a question and answer session and a fan asked which music star he would be willing to have a hit battle with. The On The Low crooner replied that he is willing to go toe to toe with any worthy challenger and it can be lyrically or musically.
Reekado Banks showed interest in the challenge and Burna Boy told him that he wants a worthy challenger.
To many people on Twitter, Burna's response is an insult to Reekado as they even expressed gratitude to God that he didn't win the Grammy.
3. Burna Boy vs N1.3 billion worth
According to Forbes, the 29-year-old Rivers born Afrobeats singer is worth $3.5 million. Reacting to that, he took to his Snapchat to state that $3.5 million won’t even buy his cars. According to him, he would have shown off his possessions but it noted that it isn't his nature to do so.
Nigerians didn't also let his comment slide as they said that he is bragging unnecessarily.
