The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Sunday, May, 17 confirmed 338 new cases of the novel coronavirus in the country.
The NCDC in a tweet disclosed that the 338 new cases were spread across 18 states.
A breakdown of cases by state showed that Lagos recorded 177 new cases, Kano 64, Abuja 21, Rivers with 16, Plateau and 14, Oyo 11.
Katsina recorded 9, Jigawa 4, Kaduna 4, Abia 3, Bauchi 3, Borno 3, Gombe 2, Akwa Ibom 2, Delta 2 Ondo 1, Kebbi 1 and Sokoto 1.
A total of 5,959 confirmed COVID-19 cases have now been recorded in 34 states and the Abuja.
The number of discharged patients are 1,594, while fatalities stand at 182.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that President Muhammadu Buhari will address Nigerians on a nation-wide broadcast concerning the easing of the lockdown caused by coronavirus.
This was revealed that by the national coordinator of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Aliyu Sani, Channels TV reports.
Sani said that in the address fixed for Monday, May 18, President Buhari will decide whether the country will embark on a second phase of the easing of the lockdown.
In another news report, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) is said to be on the run after testing positive to COVID-19.
According to The Nation, the CSP (names withheld) attached to 21 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Nyanya, Abuja, fled when a team of health workers went to evacuate him from his residence at Garki Barracks on Friday, May 15.
Police authorities and officials of the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) are now looking for the officer who was said to have been under quarantine and receiving treatment at the National Hospital Abuja Isolation Centre.
