The Bayelsa West Progressive Forum (BWPF) has called on Moses Sioloko Siasia to contest for the forthcoming Bayelsa West Senatorial District by-election.

The group in a statement sent to journalists on Saturday, May 16 by its convener, Dr Ebikabowei Akpos, advised all electorates in the senatorial district “to make guided and far-reaching futuristic decisions as to who they give their support to in the forthcoming by-election.”

The BWPF noted that whatever choices they make now will either make or mar the collective aspirations of the senatorial district.

Part of the statement read: “The forum is worried over the alarmingly high level of street begging, underdevelopment, backwardness, economic retrogression and high level of poverty suffered by the senatorial district.

“Considering the fact that it had produced the only governor who became the first to successfully complete the daunting two tenure feat without commensurate indices to pinpoint feasible sustainable legacies.

“There is no business enterprise or indigenous entrepreneur from the senatorial district that can stand tall today amongst his peers nationwide to say that his eight years government impacted. Rather, what we can see today are political hallelujah praise singers without any viable economic substance.

“Our senatorial district is arguably one of the most backward in terms of concrete infrastructural and human capital development despite the myriads of political appointees and elected representatives that we have produced over the years.

“There is no proper healthcare system, the hospitals are in a deplorable state with little or no facilities on ground culminating to high rates of fatalities especially infant mortality.

“Also, there is no proper support for our children in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions, even our schools are begging for refurbishment, with no scholarships or incentives to support indigent students.”

Burdened by these concerns, the BWPF said it is time for us the people of Bayelsa West senatorial district to experience a paradigm shift in choosing its leaders.

The group, therefore, endorsed Moses Siloko Siasia for the senatorial seat, describing him as a young visionary leader with global exposure.

Siasia is the current chairman of the Nigerian Young Professionals Forum (NYPF).

Thousands of lives have been impacted and many more are still benefitting from his numerous programs through the NYPF.
